Choose the question your test will answer
WARHAMMER III combines a campaign layer with real-time battles, and offers solo and multiplayer modes. Start by deciding whether you want smoother camera movement, clearer busy battles or shorter waits between actions. Record each symptom separately. A single score labelled performance cannot explain all three, and a favourable result in one part of the game does not automatically apply to another.
Create a battle reference with fixed context
Use a repeatable saved battle, replay or controlled setup where available, and label the type of capture. Record the map, participating armies, relevant unit settings and camera path. Compare a relatively quiet view with the busiest part you can reproduce. Keep gameplay scale choices fixed while testing a graphics option; otherwise both the workload and visual settings change, making the result harder to interpret.
Measure campaign rendering and waiting separately
For a campaign-map comparison, use the same save and repeat a short camera movement over a recognisable area. If you are timing a turn or another wait, record the exact starting action and ending event instead of calling the result FPS. Repeat the timing and preserve the save state as closely as possible. Different campaign stages are useful context but are not a controlled before-and-after settings test.
Tune visual detail without claiming a universal fix
Record resolution, scaling, preset, frame limit and the available effects before changing one item. Repeat the battle or campaign reference and inspect readability of units, terrain and interface text. A lower resolution helping one capture is an observation about that scene. It does not independently prove why every late-campaign wait occurs, or establish a guaranteed benefit from replacing a CPU or GPU.
Keep mods and multiplayer reproducible
Back up important campaign data and record the active mod list with versions. Test a clean configuration on a safe copy rather than removing content from your only campaign. For a multiplayer symptom, record participants, host arrangement and the exact moment of delay. Compare game or session diagnostics where available. A short website connection test follows another endpoint and cannot measure campaign synchronisation or a participant’s local computation.
Share evidence another player can follow
Save separate entries for battle rendering, campaign rendering and timed waits. Include game version, save context, hardware, driver and the one change being tested. For a crash, capture the exact message and smallest reproducible setup. An honest report also states what was not controlled. This makes a support discussion or upgrade plan more useful than comparing an unlabeled screenshot with a result from a different army or campaign.
Common Total War: WARHAMMER III questions
Why not combine turn times and battle FPS?
They describe different observations with different units. Keep seconds of waiting separate from frames per second and compare each with the same starting conditions.
Can changing unit settings affect a comparison?
Yes. Record and hold gameplay-scale choices constant when your purpose is to isolate a graphics adjustment.
Does a good browser ping result rule out multiplayer delay?
No. It does not measure every participant, the game session or the computation behind campaign actions.
