← PC UNIVERSEMETHODOLOGYWhere the information comes from, what the tools calculate, and what still needs verification.
The desktop catalog contains selected AMD and Intel CPUs and NVIDIA and AMD GPUs. Manufacturer specification links accompany the catalog. CPU watts may be a TDP or maximum turbo power; GPU watts use reference board power. These ratings use different methods and are not measured wall power. Partner cards, BIOS revisions and exact board models can differ.
The builder checks the selected CPU socket, reference motherboard platform, memory generation and rough PSU headroom. The planning load sums the selected CPU and GPU power labels with an 80 W allowance. The headroom check rounds 1.3 times that sum up to the next 50 W. This is a planning heuristic. It does not verify electrical safety, PSU quality, exact connector support, BIOS support, physical fit, storage lanes or the board QVL. Reference platforms are not purchasable motherboard models.
The requirements catalog covers 26 games using official publisher and store pages, checked October 20, 2026. Only memory capacity, VRAM capacity and entered free disk space are checked numerically. CPU/GPU performance equivalence and software requirements require manual verification. FPS comes only from user-entered measurements; it is not independently verified. No prediction model or licensed benchmark dataset is connected. Community comparisons select at most one latest matching observation per contributor and require recorded test conditions. Observed percentiles are summaries, not validated prediction intervals.
Energy cost = watts ÷ 1,000 × hours × days × price per kWh. Frame duration = 1,000 ÷ FPS. Percentage change = (comparison FPS ÷ baseline FPS − 1) × 100. Different settings, scenes, game versions and tools can invalidate a performance comparison even when the arithmetic is correct.
PC Doctor provides general decision paths and does not diagnose hardware. Stop for electrical or battery hazards. The 3D workshop uses a generic modular reference model. Its dimensions, placement, ports and airflow do not represent an exact commercial product or a physical simulation. Follow manufacturer manuals and seek qualified service for work you cannot safely perform.
Guides are original educational explanations prepared for this release with AI assistance. They have not been tested across every hardware combination. Manufacturer and publisher links are supplied for verification where applicable. There are no paid hardware rankings, affiliate links, product sponsorships or fabricated reviews in this release.
The main speed test uses the Cloudflare speedtest engine to measure download/upload Mbps, idle HTTPS ping, jitter and loaded latency. Transfers go directly from the browser to Cloudflare; result logging is disabled. It does not measure game-server or ICMP ping or UDP packet loss. The optional website diagnostic sends sequential, uncached HTTPS requests to the PC Universe endpoint. Two warm-up requests are excluded. The displayed round-trip time includes browser scheduling, endpoint processing and networking. Median uses successful samples; p95 uses nearest rank. Variation is the mean absolute change between adjacent successful requests without bridging failures. Request failure is not game packet loss. This optional website diagnostic does not measure bandwidth or loaded latency.
eDPI equals mouse DPI multiplied by in-game sensitivity and is meaningful only within the same game/input scale. Frame budget is 1,000 divided by FPS. Decimal download time in seconds equals GB multiplied by 8,000 divided by Mbps, before overhead, decompression and disk work. Reaction practice is an uncalibrated browser exercise affected by display and input delays.
