Check support before tuning performance
Riot publishes CPU and GPU reference tiers, supported operating-system details and additional platform requirements. Check those official instructions for the installed Windows version. A launch error and low frame rate are different problems and need different evidence.
On Windows 11, Riot’s support page specifies TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot. Do not disable protections or guess firmware settings to follow a “boost” guide. If an error names a security requirement, use the exact current Riot and device-manufacturer instructions.
Use a repeatable practice scenario
Choose a short sequence in a practice environment that you can repeat: moving along a fixed path, making the same turns and observing a similar amount of action. Keep your weapon, resolution and visual settings unchanged during the baseline.
A practice result is a local rendering reference, not a prediction of every live match. Record separate live observations when the complaint occurs only during busy situations or at particular moments in a match.
Record the full display setup
Check the refresh rate selected in Windows and the monitor mode you use. Note the game’s frame caps and synchronization settings, then compare a single change. Write down whether the effect is visible tearing, uneven motion or delayed-feeling control.
Keep the mouse and display setup constant while testing graphics. Changing sensitivity, resolution and synchronization together makes a perceived improvement difficult to explain. Your notes should let you reproduce the result after a restart.
Collect evidence while the problem happens
For suspected network lag, record the in-game latency and warnings during the affected match, selected region and connection type. Check whether uploads, downloads or another household activity coincide with the event.
The PC Universe browser connection test measures a web request to this site. Use it to compare repeated observations under your own conditions, not as a substitute for VALORANT server latency. Stable web timing cannot exclude a problem on another route.
Prefer a controlled change over a miracle pack
Close an unnecessary background program, repeat the same local test, and compare frame times. If a graphics-driver update is appropriate, obtain it from the hardware manufacturer and record the previous and new versions.
Do not install unknown “latency optimizers,” modify anti-cheat components or use unexplained commands. If a reported gain cannot be repeated under matching conditions, keep it as an observation rather than a proven fix.
Save a report with useful context
Keep the exact CPU and GPU models, RAM, Windows version, driver, resolution, caps and game version with the result. If the issue is an error rather than performance, preserve its exact wording and use Riot support.
Redact account identifiers and unrelated desktop information from any image you share. A concise report that distinguishes local pauses, connection delay and launch errors is easier to investigate than “everything is lagging.”
Common VALORANT questions
Can the minimum VALORANT specification guarantee my target FPS?
No. Riot’s reference tiers describe listed hardware. Your exact configuration and conditions still need testing.
Should I disable Secure Boot to improve performance?
No. Do not weaken security protections as a performance tweak. Follow current Riot and manufacturer instructions for the actual error.
Is browser latency the same as VALORANT ping?
No. Different endpoints and protocols create different measurements. Use in-game statistics for the live connection.
