Before you buy a used gaming PC

The questions and evidence worth asking for before paying.

01

Ask for exact models

“Core i7” and “8 GB graphics” are not enough. Ask for the full CPU model, GPU model, motherboard, PSU make and model, memory configuration and storage. Ask whether photographs show the actual item and whether parts have been replaced.

02

Ask for a repeatable demonstration

A working desktop does not establish gaming stability. Ask for a supervised test using a named game or benchmark, the settings, and a normal workload. Avoid treating an isolated FPS screenshot as proof of performance or condition.

03

Look for missing history

Ask about receipts, transferable warranties, known faults, liquid damage and repairs. Be cautious about pressure to pay quickly, unusually vague specifications and prices disconnected from comparable local completed sales. No automated score can prove a listing is legitimate.

04

Keep your payment and safety options

Use a marketplace and payment method with appropriate buyer protections. Verify the current protection terms yourself. Do not share account credentials or install software sent by a seller. If collecting locally, choose a safe arrangement and inspect before committing.
